God calls each person to a place of need in the world. This call to love and co-create may take root in workplace, community, family, or nature.

Washington National Cathedral holds a unique place at the intersection of sacred and civic life. As the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, we strive to serve God and our neighbors as agents of reconciliation, a trusted voice of moral leadership and a sacred space where the country gathers during moments of national significance.

The Franciscan Monastery is home to Custody USA, whose purpose is to provide vital human and financial help to sustain the mission in the Holy Land. The Franciscan Friars’ work in the Holy Land is vital. As Pope Francis says, “We will not resign ourselves to imagining a Middle East without Christians.” We preserve the holy places and make it possible for Christians to remain in the land of Jesus.

Since we share a common life, seminarians share in responsibility for various aspects of our life together by means of six advisory committees: Academic, Community Life, Library, Liturgical Life, Pastoral Ministry and Spiritual Life. Each committee meets monthly under the direction of a faculty member and is composed of elected seminarian representatives from each of the classes. In addition, the Presidents’ Council (class presidents) meets each week with the Rector and Dean of Seminarians to facilitate communication and deal with common issues.

Pursue Life in Christ. We are a big church but we work hard to make each person to feel part of a big family.

On May 4, 1896, ground on the corner of third and St Catherine Streets in Quarryville Borough was broken. The cornerstone was placed on July 4, 1896 and Bishop Thomas McGovern dedicated the structure on November 8, 1896. The estimated cost of the building was $4,400. It was described as a 30' x 50' area with a sanctuary 18' x 18', all of brick and stone in a Romanesque style. The building has a steeple and a bell tower and could seat 250 people.

Raphael Guastavino, who came to the area to work on the Biltmore House in the early 1900's. It is the fascinating history of an old world artist bringing his talents to the United States.

The life of a disciple of Jesus is a life of commitment. This life is at once beautiful and challenging. Difficulties often arise, whether from success or failure. Nevertheless, Jesus always calls us again. This retreat will invite us to hear Jesus’ call to us now, and to respond to it. The Ignatian weekend retreat is conducted in silence and includes generous amounts of time for personal prayer and reflection. The retreat is open to any adult who wants to grow in friendship with God through prayer. Welcome!

We offer a variety of retreats and programs all based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. In addition to the retreats and programs offered by the Spiritual Growth staff, we also welcome Roman Catholic and other ecumenical groups who seek a beautiful setting to conduct their own group meetings.
